READING, Ohio - Reading firefighters battled a two-story house fire at a home early Sunday morning.
Just after 4:30 a.m. crews responded to the 2300 block of Galbraith Road in Reading.
When crews arrived, fire was seen shooting from the roof. Additional crews from Evendale and Deer Park-Silverton were called in to help. Within minutes of their arrival, the the roof of the home collapsed.
Assistant Fire Chief Todd Owens says the home was condemned due to multiple health and safety violations back in Oct.
"The electric was working and the gas was working to the building. The landowner and the resident had been working to mitigate some of those concerns so they have periodically been going in there to work on those isolated problems with the violations that were noted," Owens said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
