Pursuit of Indiana burglary suspect ends in crash

CONNERSVILLE, Ind. - A man wanted in connection to a series of burglaries in Indiana led authorities on a high-speed pursuit that ended in a serious crash Thursday afternoon.

Connersville police say Ryan Foster, 26, was seen burglarizing a home when a witness called in a description of his truck to police.

Authorities then spotted Foster's truck around noon and attempted to pull him over. He refused and led police on a pursuit. Multiple agencies joined the chase which reached 90 mph and spanned several counties over 29 miles.

The chase ended when the suspect crashed his pickup truck into a van and a Cadillac at the intersection of West 30th Street and North Park Road in downtown Connersville just before 1 p.m.

The driver of the car, Robert Lewis, 53, suffered critical injuries and was transported to an Indianapolis hospital by a medical helicopter.

The driver of the van, Stephen LaBoyteaux, 25, was traveling with his wife, Mandy, and their 2-month-old daughter. Mady LaBoyteaux was the only one injured in the van, according to police. The extent of her injuries is not known at this time.

Police believe the suspect is responsible for a rash of burglaries in Rushville. Foster, from Dublin, Ind., was on parole from prison, which police did not know at the time of the incident.

Police say Foster faces at least 16 charges from operating under narcotics to criminal recklessness with a vehicle. No other information was released at this time.

A nearby school was placed on locked down while police investigated.

More than a dozen cruisers were involved in the pursuit, according to police. Officers say no cruisers were involved in the crash.
