Cold weather causes Butler County power outages

WEST CHESTER, Ohio - Thousands of Butler County residents were in the dark Monday morning after cold weather caused power outages in the area.

More than 1,000 Duke Energy customers are without power as of 10:30 a.m. At one time, more than 4,200 customers experienced power outages. A majority of the outages occurred north of West Chester, according to the Duke Energy website . Less than 30 customers in Hamilton County experienced outages as well.

Cold weather and problems at the distribution center were behind the outages, said Duke Energy spokesperson Sally Thelen.
