JACKSON, Ind. - Two people are dead, including an Ohio man, as the result of a multi-car accident in eastern Indiana.

James D. Johnson, 27, of North Bend, Ohio, and an unnamed 17-year-old from Sunman, Ind., passed away after the automobiles they were driving were involved in a three-car accident Saturday afternoon at approximately 3:34 p.m.

Dearborn County police say one of the vehicles was traveling eastbound on State Route 46 when it struck a second vehicle while it was in the process of turning onto Lawrenceville Road. Police have not assigned a driver to either car.

UC Air Care was called to the scene but no one was transported after both drivers were declared dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of a third vehicle was waiting to turn on to SR 46 from Lawrenceville Road when it was struck. The driver of that vehicle, Waverly Jutzi, 36, of Sunman, Ind., was unharmed.

None of the drivers are believed to have had passengers with them at the time of the accident.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the Dearborn County Sheriff's Department.
