CINCINNATI - A special event was held at the 9 On Your Side studio Friday, Feb. 8 to help women who hadn't had the time or the insurance necessary to get their annual mammogram.
9 On Your Side partnered with St. Elizabeth to provide the service. The mobile mammography vans were parked in front of the station at 1720 Gilbert Avenue from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. One van was available for walk-up appointments and another for scheduled appointments.
The American Cancer Society recommends women get a yearly mammogram starting at age 40. This practice can improve the chances that the disease can be diagnosed at an early stage and treated successfully.
St. Elizabeth provided the no-cost mammograms.
The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation will pay for the service for those without insurance.
