SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A man is behind bars after being arrested Friday on charges stemming from a triple stabbing that took place in Springfield Township.

Shawn Mathews, 23, was apprehended just before 5 p.m. on Roosevelt Avenue in Springfield Township.

On Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a fight with gunshots fired in the 2000 block of Bluehill Road around 4:30 p.m. Police say a nearby officer spotted the vehicle on Hamilton Avenue and conducted a traffic stop.

The officer reported three men were inside the vehicle with stab wounds.

Two of the victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment of unknown injuries. The third victim refused transportation, according to police.

Mathews is currently in the Hamilton County Justice Center. He is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
