CINCINNATI - Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches will open at the Banks in April 2013, according to developers of The Banks’ riverfront project.

The sandwich shop will be located on the south block of Freedom Way.

“The addition of Jimmy John’s helps round out the ‘something for everyone’ atmosphere at The Banks,” said Scott Singer, executive vice president at Carter, one of The Banks’ development partners, in a press release.

Also, Phase 1A of the Banks project is now 89 percent leased with two retail spaces available, according to the release.

Phase 1 includes 300 apartments and about 97,000 square feet of retail space and retail at The Banks that has already brought more than 300 new jobs to the region and $600 million in investment.

Phase 1 is expected to have a total economic impact of $276 million annually once a hotel and office are likely added on the property.

In late 2012 The Banks developers announced ground will be broken on Phase 2 of the development early this year.

Plans for Phase 2 includes an additional 300 apartment units, more than 60,000 square feet of street-level retail and more than 400 parking spaces at the block southeast of Race and Second streets.
