CINCINNATI - The YMCA of Greater Cincinnati has released new information on its decision to adjust the hours of operation at one of its locations.
The YMCA located at 2840 Melrose Avenue in Cincinnati, better known as the Melrose YMCA, announced in late Decemeber that it would adjust its hours in order to better utilize its resources. As of Jan. 2, 2012, the site’s new hours are 5 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The decision made by the the YMCA was met with some controversy, as the new hours make using the facility difficult for some members.
Officials from the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati released the following statement in order to further articulate the reasons behind the hours change to those affected by the decision:
In making the decision to adjust the membership hours, the Y has carefully studied use of the facility over the past 16 months, finding that 73 percent of members attended programs and worked out during the revised hours of operation. While membership has increased at Melrose, it is not at the level needed to operate with extended hours. The new schedule will enable the majority of YMCA members and program participants to continue their activities.
Officials from the YMCA further articulated the following programs will continue to be offered, mornings, afternoons, and evenings at the Melrose YMCA:
Members of the Melrose YMCA will also be allowed to utilize any other branch of the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati during day, evening or weekend membership hours.
