CINCINNATI - The storms this summer are straining our nation's blood supply.
The Red Cross is sounding the alarm about the worst blood shortage in 15 years. The organization says the power outages and extreme heat are keeping many regular donors at home this summer. Some hospitals are canceling or postponing surgeries because they require too much blood.
Hoxworth Blood Center says its supply is stable but it is always in need of donations.
