CINCINNATI - A hazmat team was called to a substance spill at the Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) in Queensgate Thursday evening.

The incident happened around 10:50 p.m. in the 1600 block of Gest Street.

Police estimate more than 5,000 gallons of either water or a chemical substance, like bleach or chlorine, have spilled at MSD, which provides wastewater removal and treatment needs for residents and businesses in the city.

Officials say no employees were inside the building at the time of the leak. No injuries were reported.

The spill was contained inside the building and was not a threat to the public.

Police temporarily shut down Gest and Dalton streets while crews worked to clear the scene.

Officials have not released any other details at this time.
