CINCINNATI - Students from the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University will get free admission to a local museum on Nov. 10 to commemorate the upcoming Skyline Chili Crosstown Classic basketball game.

UC and Xavier students who have a valid student ID will be admitted free into the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center on that day. The museum is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Also, all faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community sporting UC or Xavier clothing will be admitted Nov. 10 at the discounted admission price of $8.

This year's Skyline Chili Crosstown Classic, which will bring the Xavier Musketeers and UC Bearcats to the basketball court for the 66th consecutive year, will benefit the Freedom Center.

The game is scheduled for Dec. 19 at U.S. Bank Arena. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Freedom Center from both universities.

During the Freedom Center event, the museum also will remain open to the public. Xavier and UC will have mascots attending at 11 a.m., with student-athletes signing autographs.

The Freedom Center commemorates the safe houses and secret routes that slaves used as they made their way to northern free states in the 19th century. Many such stops are located throughout Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

The museum also features exhibits based on the themes of slavery and the quest for freedom.
