CINCINNATI - For the past seven years, Lighthouse Youth Services has called a small building on Glendora Avenue home. Soon they'll move into a new, much larger, facility on Highland Avenue in Mt. Auburn.
The non-profit helps young adults ages 18 to 24 with basic needs like hot meals and clean clothes. Twenty-four-year-old Willie Covington, who has been homeless for months, says Lighthouse Youth Services is helping to get him on the right track.
"Basically I come here to get more motivation to keep going throughout the day," said Covington.
Covington suffers from depression and his mental illness caused him to lose his job and then his home. Thanks to Lighthouse he sees a case worker and is on his way to finding a place to live and new job.
Lighthouse Youth Services will soon move into a new building on Highland avenue. The new facility is big enough for almost 30 people to stay overnight, something impossible at their current location due to limited space.
The non-profit says the new building is paid for, but it's in need of money to operate it. They're holding a fundraising walk Saturday at 9 a.m. The walk starts at Fountain Square and ends at the new building on Highland Avenue.
