UNION TWP, Ohio - Around 40 employees at the new Jungle Jim’s store in Union Township will be getting something this holiday season they wish they could return – a pink slip.
According to multiple sources, the store will be forced to let go of between 33 and 40 employees due to financial reasons.
While the sources don’t know the particulars regarding the situation, they noted that most of the employees who will be affected by the move work part-time and only a few days a week. They were unable to confirm if any full-time workers would be let go.
The layoffs will take place in departments throughout the store.
Some workers are expected to work their last day at the store on Saturday. Other workers are expected to be let go in the coming days.
Although the exact number of employees at the store was not available at the time, the store originally intended to hire between 320 and 400 workers.
The store has not ruled out the possibility of re-hiring some of the employees or hiring new employees if sales increase.
