CINCINNATI - Officials are investigating a Sedamsville crash that led to a driver’s death early Tuesday morning.

David Eads, 47, was driving eastbound on Southside Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle at about 1 a.m. and drove off the right side of the road. Eads' vehicle hit a concrete post, a chain link fence and a building before finally coming to rest.

The vehicle caught fire and Eads was able to escape the vehicle before the it was engulfed in flames. Eads, however, later died at the scene.

A 21-year-old male passenger, Jonathan Proffit sustained minor injuries of scratches and bruises. Emergency crews transported Proffit to University Hospital.

Police say they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Authorities have not released any additional details about the crash at this time.
