Deters says Kentucky Supreme Court has lifted his suspension

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - High profile attorney Eric Deters released a statement Friday afternoon saying his law license has been reinstated in Kentucky.

According to Deters, the Kentucky Supreme Court voted 7 to 0 to reinstate the attorney whose license was suspended in Ohio and Kentucky earlier this year.

The suspensions stem from Deters' actions in multiple cases, including one involving attorney's fees and another that deals with comments made about a judge and opposing counsel.

Deters, who doubles as a radio talk-show host on WLW-AM in Cincinnati, said the decision on "technical violations" was wrong and that he didn't get a fair hearing.

His license was first suspended in Kentucky this February for 61 days, but that sentence was extended to an indefinite one. In March, the Ohio Supreme Court also suspended his license, which still remains in effect.

Deters represented former Ben-Gal cheerleader Sarah Jones in her defamation lawsuit. Deters also filed suit against Cincinnati police, representing the family of Davon Mullins, the teen killed by a Cincinnati police officer on Fountain Square last summer.

There has been no word on how his suspension will affect the cases he is involved with.

This afternoon the Kentucky Supreme Court reinstated me by a 7 to 0 vote adopting the Character and Fitness Committee Report. I am thankful and grateful to them. I also want to thank my wife,family, partners, employees, clients,friends, and fans who have been loyal said prayers and supported me during this process. I want everyone to know I have learned a lot. The victory speaks for itself and I will not make any negative comments. As we celebrate with class I ask you to not make negative comments against my adversaries. It's time to move on. It is time to get back to work.
