CINCINNATI - A 20-year-old is in police custody Monday after Cincinnati police say he robbed a University of Cincinnati student near the school’s campus on Saturday.
Police arrested Nolan Gibbs, 20, after they say he robbed a UC student at 7 West Hollister Street on Jan. 5. Gibbs allegedly fled the scene after the robbery and when Cincinnati police officers caught up with him, he had two handguns.
Authorities charged Gibbs with aggravated robbery, carrying a concealed weapon, tampering with evidence and possessing a defaced firearm.
Officials say they were able to arrest Gibbs because the victim called 911 immediately after the crime.
“It is absolutely imperative crime victims contact the police as soon as possible after the offense as they chances of making an arrest decease drastically the longer one waits to report the crime,” Cincinnati Police Captain Paul Neudigate said in a news release Monday.
Authorities have not released information about what Gibbs stole from the UC student.
