CINCINNATI - A fundraiser was held in honor of a Mount Airy mother of three who was killed in a September car crash.

A charity car show was held Sunday in honor of Jessica Green, a 29-year-old mother of three sons who was also pregnant at the time of her deadly accident on Sept. 12.

The victim’s sister, Brandy Sowders, tells 9 News that Green was a car enthusiast. Sowders and the rest of Green's family felt a car show would be a great way to bring the community together to remember her.

Green’s sister organized a car show at the Northgate Mall on Colerain Avenue to raise money for funeral expenses and to start a trust fund for Green’s three sons, ages 12, 5, and 1.

Initial estimates suggest there were about 120 cars, ranging from classic cars to muscle cars to ATVs, in attendance. The owner of each car paid $10 to display at the fundraiser that ran from noon until 5 p.m.

Food and drinks were available for purchase, and raffles were held to help raise money for the woman’s young family.

"She was a loving person. She loved her children,” Sowders said. “We never had a chance to meet her son Kaleb, whom she was nine months pregnant with. She was crazy and spontaneous and she is greatly missed.”

Green’s family plans to hold another benefit with live music and a costume contest the weekend of Oct. 26 in Hamilton.

To donate raffle items or ask questions about the benefit, contact Brandy Sowders at (513) 615-4184 or at BrandyMaher@hotmail.com .
