CINCINNATI - A joint effort between Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and AAA will join forces to help celebrate the birth of a new year and possibly a few saved lives.

New Year’s Day consistently ranks as the year’s deadliest day for alcohol-related fatalities. In an effort to prevent drunk driving and get people home safely, MADD and AAA are teaming together to provide free cab rides for those who’ve imbibed as part of their celebration.

According to AAA, the Care Cab program has provided more than 2,000 rides to some 5,200 passengers since its inception

Care Cab will be available from 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve through midnight on Jan. 1, equaling 30 hours of free service to those in need.

Free Cab rides will be provided by Towne Taxi to all callers 21 years old and over who are in need of safe transportation from a public establishment to a private residence within the Interstate 275 loop.

Call 513-768-FREE (513-768-3733) to request service. The phone line will be active beginning at 6 p.m. on December 31.
