WEST UNION, Ohio - There's been a recent surge of reported black bear sightings in West Union, Ohio.

The Adams County Sheriff's Office says the most recent call they received was early Friday morning when a woman reported seeing a black bear in the Wamsley area near State Route 348.

A bear was also reportedly seen in the Towers Road area Tuesday and in the Blue Creek.

Deputies say that they've always known black bears were in the area and for residents not be alarmed.

They say the most important thing for residents to know is if they see a bear in the area to not go near it.
