CINCINNATI - Local families hit hardest by the economic downturn will get a bit of relief soon.
The organization Feed The Children is helping the Tri-State through its Americans Feeding Americans Caravan.
Feed The Children will deliver three semi tractor-trailers full of food and personal items to 1,200 Cincinnati families.
Legendary musician Bootsy Collins and Churches Active In Northside will help distribute the items starting at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Church.
According to Feed The Children, the Tri-State has the ninth fastest growing rate of suburban poverty in the nation. One in four people in cincinnati live in poverty and more than 40 percent of them are children.
During the distribution, each family family will receive a 25-pound box of food, a 10-pound box of personal care items, and a box of Avon products. They are all designed to last up to one week.
The Americans Feeding Americans Caravan has helped more than 75,000 nationwide, and plans to help a total of 200,000 by the end of the year.
