The Brown County Sheriff’s Office seized a vehicle and more than $11,000 as part of a plea deal with a local drug dealer.
Deputies report Brown County Common Pleas Court Judge Scott T. Gusweiler ordered Darrell Miller, 58, from Williamsburg, Ohio to forfeit ownership of a 2010 Dodge Challenger to the sheriff’s office because the vehicle was purchased with proceeds from illegal drug sales. The department also confiscated $11,400 from Miller at the time of his arrest.
According to Sheriff Dwayne Wenninger, the forfeited funds and vehicle will be used to better the police department.
“The funds received from cash forfeitures and vehicle forfeiture sales are used to purchase vehicles and equipment for the Investigations Unit and are used to fund future drug investigations and anti drug education in Brown County without using taxpayer funds,” Wenninger said.
According to police, Miller was arrested in February 2012 for aggravated trafficking drugs, engaging in pattern of corrupt activity and multiple counts of drug possession.
