Woman charged with double murder dies from apparent suicide

CINCINNATI - A woman who spent more than a year in county jail awaiting trial on double murder charges died Wednesday morning of an apparent suicide.

Dawn McFadden, 43, was taken to University Hospital Monday morning for what appeared to be a possible overdose of prescription medication, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

McFadden died this morning, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said.  The incident is currently under investigation.

Deputies are waiting for the coroner's report to determine McFadden’s exact cause of death.

McFadden was arrested on Oct. 30, 2011, for the murders of 42-year-old Corey Coleman and 21-year-old Laroy Coleman in Carthage.

Shortly after the homicides occurred, McFadden was arrested after she crashed a vehicle into a home in the 200 block of Parkway Avenue in Hartwell

McFadden has been the Hamilton County Justice Center since that time on a $1 million bond.

She was was facing two counts of aggravated murder, two counts of murder, tampering with evidence and failure to comply.
