CINCINNATI - A winter storm warning for the Tri-State that expired at midnight on Wednesday caused some counties to declare snow emergencies that are still in effect.
Snow accumulated up to 4 inches in some areas in the Tri-State on Tuesday. Most Tri-State roads experienced delays as crews continued to clear the snow as best as they could while it continued to fall.
Road crews will continue to work through the night to maintain the roads for the morning commute on Wednesday.
The following communities are under a LEVEL 1 snow emergency:
KENTUCKY - Fort Wright, Taylor Mill, Silver Grove, Gallatin County, Fort Mitchell, Grant County
INDIANA - Franklin County
There are three levels of snow emergencies. While there may be slight variations from one community to the next, these are the general definitions:
LEVEL 1: Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Drive carefully. Motorists must move cars from snow emergency routes.
LEVEL 2: Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roads. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work.
LEVEL 3: All roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one else should be out during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel or a personal emergency exists. All employees should contact their employer to see if they should report to work. Those traveling on the roads may subject themselves to arrest.
