BURLINGTON, Ky. - The Boone County Sheriff’s Department Scrap Unit is investigating the theft of a large amount of copper wire taken from a local business.
The department believes the thefts occurred while the Eaton Asphalt Satellite Plant was shutdown from Dec. 23 until Jan. 5.
Investigators believe the thieves cut and removed 710 feet of the wire from the plant located at the 200 Block of East Frogtown Road near Walton, Kentucky. The wire is valued at over $20,000 and weighs about 7,000 pounds.
