Orchem, a chemical manufacturer and distributor owned by basketball legend Oscar Robertson, is trying to market a disinfectant that is effective up to 24-hours after it's applied.

"It will kill germs and bacteria for 24-hours," said Robertson, of his new product ‘Spectrum 24.’

"When we first got involved with this I thought really primarily of high school kids and the product's use in schools, but now you can go to nursing homes, hospitals and around your house," explained Robertson.

The product is being considered for use by Hamilton County said County Commissioner Todd Portune.

"To have a product that has an effect on the spread of disease is of real interest to us," said Portune.

The County Administrator will have the final say whether the product is purchased.

In the meantime, Orchem continues to market the product to institutions like hospitals and nursing homes.
