COLERAIN TWP, Ohio - A man is dead after leading police on a chase that ended in a crash near Colerain Township Monday.

The man, whose name has not yet been released, led police on a chase through Colerain Township. The chase ended in Fairfield when the vehicle drove through the intersection of Pippin and John Gray roads and crashed into a tree at about 11:30 a.m.

Emergency crews responded to the scene to transport the victim, but he died on the way to the hospital, according to authorities.

Officials say the chase started at about 35 mph, but greatly exceeded that speed by the end of the pursuit. Authorities say the man took off after authorities tried to pull him over for illegal window tinting.

A Colerain Township spokeswoman said four officers responded to the scene of the crash.

Officials have not released any additional details about the crash, chase or death at this time.
