CINCINNATI (AP) - About a third of the more than 1,700 workers at a new casino in downtown Cincinnati have been hired.
Hundreds of dealers are undergoing training now at the Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati, which is about 75 percent finished.
Still to be hired are about 1,000 more positions, including cashiers, cocktail servers and security. Casino officials say they'll hold hiring events for those positions the next two months and expect to be done by February.
The casino is set to open in the spring, with an exact date to be announced in the next few weeks.
The casino is the last of four approved by Ohio voters in 2009. Casinos in Toledo, Cleveland and Columbus all opened this year, with the state collecting about 33 percent in taxes from their gross revenue.
