WALTON, Ky. - An elderly Florida man died Monday in a crash on Interstate 75 in Northern Kentucky after suffering from a medical episode while driving.

The incident occurred at about 12:10 p.m. on southbound I-75 at the 170-mile marker, just south of Walton, Ky., in Boone County.

William Reynolds, 73 of Bradenton, Fla., was driving his 2010 Lexus ES350 with his passenger, Sara Miller, 71, also of Bradenton, according to the Boone County Sheriff's Office.

Reynolds reportedly lost consciousness, causing his vehicle to leave the traveled portion of the roadway and strike a concrete barrier.

Miller was able to control the Lexus from that point, bringing it to a stop.

EMT crews used life-saving measures at the scene and then transported Reynolds to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
