CINCINNATI - A generous $1 million donation from a Tri-State couple is making it possible for Lighthouse Youth Services to open a new homeless shelter for young adults.

Rhonda and Larry Sheakley donated the money to jump start the funding campaign for the new home.

The new 28-bed shelter will be be called Lighthouse on Highland.  It will be co-located with the existing extended day program for young adults who are homeless, currently known as Anthony House.

Lighthouse on Highland is set to open the fall of 2011.

Last week, Lighthouse Youth Services closed on the purchase of the building, located at 2522 Highland Avenue. Lighthouse plans to renovate the current 9,435 square foot facility as well as add an addition of 2,740 square feet to create the 28-bed overnight shelter for homeless young adults, ages 18 - 24.
