SPRING GROVE VILLAGE, Ohio - A man passed away early Saturday morning at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center after sustaining serious injuries during a chemical explosion at a Spring Grove Village business Friday.
A UC Medical Center spokesperson confirmed that Zachary Henzerling succumbed to the injuries he sustained during the blast.
Henzerling was one of four workers at Environmental Enterprises Inc. shredding an industrial filter around 4 a.m. Friday morning when an explosion and flash fire occurred.
An official with Environmental Enterprises Inc. confirmed that the industrial filter being cleaned by workers contains sodium chlorate, which is sensitive to friction.
Henzerling and one other person were being treated for injuries as a result of the blast. The name of the second injured party was not released, but he was reportedly listed in stable condition Friday, officials said.
