CINCINNATI - Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati on Monday unveiled details of its urban event plaza, the newest addition to the city’s first casino, which is expected to open in the spring.
Located next to the casino’s front entrance between Reading Road and Eggleston Avenue, the one-acre plaza design includes extensive landscaping, along with in-ground lighting.
Casino owners said the plaza will be programmed to host entertainment, festivals and special events.
“Combined with our iconic gateway entrance and outward facing restaurants, the urban plaza was designed to be a distinctive venue and outdoor space capable of accommodating a diverse range of programming and being a great catalyst for activating our community location and downtown Cincinnati," said Kevin Kline, the casino’s senior vice president.
The event plaza is located, in part, on properties purchased from Hamilton County and the city of Cincinnati.
In 2011, Hamilton County commissioners sold a surface parking lot to casino developer Rock Ohio Caesars, and Cincinnati City Council voted to close a small section of Broadway to make way for the plaza.
