CINCINNATI -- Two women are dead after a crash on I-74 in Green Township Thursday morning.
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says Mary Kraus was traveling westbound on I-74 when her Chevy Cavalier was struck from behind by a Jeep Liberty driven by Michele Knapp at 2:28 a.m.
The accident happened in the far right lane just west of North Bend Road.
Kraus, 60, and her backseat passenger, Nicole Riddle, 27, died in the crash. The front passenger, Wesley Kraus, 32, was transported to University Hospital where he was treated and released. Wesley Kraus, the driver's son, was also the boyfriend of Riddle.
Knapp, 23, was treated and released.
Investigators say both drivers were wearing their seat belts. Wesley Kraus and Riddle were not wearing their seat belts.
Alcohol and/or drugs are believed to be factors in the crash. The accident blocked all westbound lanes of I-74 for three hours.
No charges have been filed at this time.
The accident remains under investigation.
