CINCINNATI - Thursday morning several local businesses and individuals will be honored for making a difference in our community.

The 2012 Crime Stoppers Awards Breakfast starts at 7:30 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Hotel Ballroom, at 151 West Fifth Street in downtown.

Keeneland's longtime track bugler, Bucky Sallee will give the "call to the post" announcing the opening of 13th Crime Stoppers Awards Breakfast.

Awards will be presented to and recognize individuals and organizations for their support and work over the year. Also, the event will work to raise money to help pay reward to Crime Stoppers tipsters.

The Cincinnati area Crime Stoppers chapter is one of the most successful in the country, ranking in the top five for apprehension of criminals and recovery of stolen property and contraband as a result of calls to the tip lines.

Officials say the success is made possible by those who support the unique Crime Stoppers partnership of citizens, businesses, media agencies and law enforcement by donating the funds that reward tipsters for helping to solve crimes, always preserving their anonymity.

Thursday’s event starts at 7:30 a.m. and is expected to be finished by 9 a.m.
