Bond has been set at $250,000 cash for the former sheriff's deputy accused of shooting and killing his parents in their Union home earlier this summer.

Michael Moore was charged in the deaths of Warren and Madge Moore on Friday.

Warren Moore was once Union's mayor.

Michael Moore was already in the Boone County jail on felony drug charges.

In June, Michael Moore called police to report his parents had been shot along with himself. Investigators believe he shot himself in the incident.

He once worked as a Warren County sheriff's deputy but left the force abruptly in 2004 after being indicted on drug charges.

Moore will have a preliminary hearing on the murder charges September 14.
