Jesus portrait in Ohio school draws national attention

JACKSON, Ohio - New controversy may force an Ohio middle school to remove a portrait of Jesus from its school halls.
Officials at Jackson Middle School in Jackson, Ohio, about two hours east of Cincinnati, are defending a picture of Jesus that's been hanging in the school since 1947.
The Freedom from Religion Foundation says the school is publicly endorsing Christianity over other faiths by allowing the picture to hang on its halls and it wants the picture taken down.
District Superintendent Phil Howard argues the portrait was a gift from students and, for now, will stay.
Howard says he will only remove it from Jackson Middle School with an order from the school board or a judge. The picture hangs with 50 others in the school's gallery of distinguished alumni.
