CINCINNATI - If you have trouble sleeping, you may also have other related health problems. The experts at UC's Sleep Medicine Center in West Chester suggest that a neurologist might be able to help.
UC Health neurologist Jennifer Rose Molano says diseases and disorders of the brain, spinal cord and nervous system are closely associated with sleep problems.
Molano says a lack of sleep can trigger worsening of conditions such as headaches and seizures.
She says obstructive sleep apnea can interfere with sleep, and is also a risk factor for stroke.
She says people who snore at night and stop breathing, should get evaluated by a sleep specialist. Proper treatment can decrease their risk for heart disease and stroke.
