CINCINNATI - Women looking for a mental boost may want to pick up a glass of wine.

A new study shows wine gives women a bit of an intellectual edge over men, in moderation of course.

Researchers tested more than 5,000 middle-aged men and women over seven years. They found that women who drank four or more times over a two-week period scored better on cognitive tests than those who drank one time in two weeks.

Experts say one reason for the benefit of the wine could be due to polyphenols or antioxidants.  Or it could be the alcohol itself, which helps increase blood circulation.
