Sock monitors baby's breathing & sends alerts to parents' smartphones

A new device is in the works that monitors your baby's breathing and sends an alert to your smart phone if there is a problem.
The device is called the " Owlet Baby Monitor ."
It was developed by a team of students at Brigham Young University.
They just won the top prize at the Student Innovator of the Year competition.
The monitor fits just like a sock. It's a wireless device that monitors a baby's heart rate and blood-oxygen levels.
If the baby stops breathing, the monitor sends an alert through an app to the parent's smartphone.
The device is not available yet, but the monitor's creators say they plan to use their prize money from the competition to put the product on the market.
