CINCINNATI - Tennis is one of those sports that many people try at one point or another, but often quickly give up when they discover all they are doing is picking up tennis balls and not hitting very many.

Sometimes getting fit is done best by doing what you enjoy and figuring out how to “ramp it up” for maximum aerobic benefits. Maybe it's time to give tennis another chance by participating in Cardio Tennis.

Mercy HealthPlex facilities in the Greater Cincinnati area offer a tennis program designed for people of all ability levels that mixes fun with fitness. It's called Cardio Tennis.

The hour-long classes are led by certified tennis professionals and combine lots of movement with fun and instruction that will improve your game and your aerobic conditioning.

Tennis professional Linda van B. Stafford says that the program can be enjoyed not only by tennis players but also by athletes of other sports that want to start playing tennis or just wanting to cross train.

Tennis player Chuck Herrington said he believes it offers just the right combination of tennis and running. He claims that since participating in Cardio Tennis, he has noticed an improvement in his stamina during especially tough and long matches.
