Hamilton County Democratic leaders appoint new coroner

CINCINNATI - Hamilton County Democratic leaders officially named a new coroner at the Letter Carrier Hall in Northside Thursday night.
Dr. Lakshmi Kode Sammarco was appointed to replace Dr. Anant Bhati, who unexpectedly passed away last Friday after a fall.
Dr. Sammarco immigrated to the U.S. with her family at the age of six.
She is a University of Cincinnati graduate and the first woman to hold the office of coroner.
Dr. Sammarco hopes to bring her specialty to the coroner's office and pioneer new techniques.
