CINCINNATI, Ohio - Every three hours, either a driver or pedestrian is struck by a train. Take the Deadly or Dumb challenge and you may save a life.
The challenge is to write a thirty second script that persuades drivers and pedestrians to make safe choices when it comes to trains and their tracks
Winners of the challenge receive $500, two round trip coach Amtrak tickets from any Ohio Amtrak stop to their choice of Washington DC, New York City or Chicago, and have the opportunity to record and air their safety
script at a participating radio station.
"Ohio Ranks 7th nationally in grade crossing collisions, 8th nationally in trespass incidents with trains and railroad property," Ohio Operation Lifesaver, State Coordinator, Shel Senek told 9 News. "Ohio is a crossroad for train traffic as we rank 4th in the nation for the number of railroad cars handled."
