Churchill's online wagering site hacked

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Churchill Downs Inc. says its online wagering site, TwinSpires.com , had some customers' account information hacked last month.
Company spokeswoman Courtney Yopp Norris told The Courier-Journal the only information compromised was account holders' names, birth date, email address and an encrypted Social Security number. Norris said a hacker would have to know the code before being able to convert the Social Security number.
The incident happened Aug. 3. Norris said less than 20 percent of customers were affected. The company doesn't disclose how many customers it has.
She says the company is notifying law enforcement in all 50 states and that customers in every state were involved.
Information will be sent to customers detailing the situation and notifying them of credit protection services being made available to them.
