Audit to reveal first phase results from a statewide audit into Ohio school attendance

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Thursday morning, Ohio officials will release the first phase of results from a statewide audit into school attendance.
An investigation into possible attendance rigging began in July 2012. It involves 100 schools across the state, some of which are in Hamilton and Butler counties.
Ohio Auditor David Yost launched a statewide probe in July after irregular enrollment and attendance practices were discovered in Columbus, Toledo and suburban Cincinnati districts.
Yost will be presenting those results at a 10:30 a.m. press conference.
The investigation began after data showed that those 100 schools had a high number of student withdrawals.
State investigators are looking into why schools withdrew students and whether those withdrawals were legitimate.
Some top officials in Lockland and Columbus have already been fired or resigned in connection with this investigation.
The future of Princeton and Hamilton district schools is also at stake.
