Convertible high chairs recalled

MIAMISBURG, Ohio - Convertible high chairs distributed by Evenflo Inc., of Miamisburg, Ohio; sold at Toys "R" Us and Walmart stores nationwide, and online at Walmart.com and Wayfair.com between December 2011 and June 2012 have been recalled. The Evenflo high chairs can convert from a high chair to toddler-size table and chair. The recalled convertible high chairs come in three models: Dottie Lime, Dottie Rose and Marianna. Model numbers are located on a label on the lower portion of one of the high chair's legs. The high chairs were manufactured in China.

WHY: The activity tray on the high chair can unexpectedly detach and allow an unrestrained child to fall, posing an injury hazard to the child.

INCIDENTS: Evenflo has received 18 reports of trays that detached, including eight reports of children who fell from the high chair and sustained bumps and bruises.

HOW MANY: About 35,000 in the United States.
