CINCINNATI - About 46,000 bassinets are being recalled after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the product’s dangers Wednesday.
The recall affects Kolcraft Tender Vibes & Light Vibes bassinets, which have malfunctioning latches.
The latches that lock the bassinet base onto its metal frame can appear to be locked, however, they are actually unlocked. This allows the bassinet to become detached from the metal frame, causing the bassinet to fall, which may result in injury, according to the CPSC.
At least one infant has been hurt when the bassinet came off its frame.
The bassinets were sold in stores nationwide and online from July 2008 through May 2012 for between about $50 and $100.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bassinets and contact Kolcraft to receive a repair kit and instructions for securing the latches to the metal frame. For Kolcraft contact information, go to http://www.kolcraft.com/customer-service/safety-notifications .
