If you pay your gas and electric bill online, you need to be aware of a change coming this fall.

Duke is ending one of its online bill payment systems, which will affect approximately 20,000 customers in the Cincinnati area.

It's called " Bill Payer 2000".

Bill Payer 2000 is one of several systems that lets you pay your Duke bill on your home computer. With it you can make same day payments, which you can't do paying through the online bill pay systems of many banks.

Duke says it is dropping Bill Payer 2000 in September. It will launch a new program, "Payment Advantage," in November. However,  for two months, those customers will have to pay by check or by phone.

People who pay their Duke bills directly through their bank's website -- such as US Bank's online banking, for instance -- will not be affected. And people using other bill pay systems will not be affected, only those currently with Bill Payer 2000.

As always, don't waste your money.
