John Matarese reports on the best weekend sales, and one item …

It's Lent, and that means thousands of Tri-Staters will be heading out to fish fries and fast food restaurants, for a fish sandwich on Fridays.
We all know that the best piece of fish is the one served up fresh out of the deep fry at one of the many Cincinnati area fish fries.
But if you have to buy it a fast food restaurant, who has the cheapest sandwich?
We compared prices, and found some good deals. All of these sandwiches are fried cod on a bun (some may use pollock), with tartar sauce. Some are larger than others, some include lettuce and cheese.
Here's the breakdown:
Long John Silvers: $1.89, the lowest price we found for a standard "fish sandwich" on a bun.
Arby's: $2.99
Wendy's: $3.79 (Though it is larger than most others, and is "loaded")
McDonald's classic Filet-o-Fish : $3.39. This is the one you grew up with, that used to cost 99 cents.
McDonald's new Fish McBites: $3.29 (if you don't want the Filet-o-Fish).
Frisch's: $5.05. Though a local favorite, the fish sandwich at Frisch's Big Boy clocked in as the most expensive among fast food restaurants. Some would argue that Frisch's is not really "fast food," which makes the price more reasonable.
KFC: Some KFC's may still offer the small Fish Snacker. We could not find any in Cincinnati that did.
Finally, look for 2-for-1 deals, which often run during Lent, and coupons in Reach Magazine and other places (especially for Arby's).
That way you don't waste your money.
