The heat isn't just a concern for those spending a lot of time outdoors, it's also causing problems for drivers.

According to AAA, its Roadside Rescue Team has responded to more than 2,500 calls in the last week. That's up 7 percent compared to this time last year.

AAA officials say most of the roadside calls were about dead batteries.

AAA says heat can have a huge impact on car batteries so make sure to have it tested and clean the terminals if there are signs of corrosion.

AAA officials believe the increase in emergency calls is from holiday travel and the impact of the recent heat wave on cars.
