I love my iPhone 4, but now what?
Yes, I am a sucker for (some) technology. Like plenty of Americans, I love my iPhone. I do. I know, I know, the Droid is fabulous. Great. Glad. I have an iPhone. I have had an iPhone from nearly the first possible moment that I could get my hands on one. The first generation to the 4th. It's just my thing.
So, when the new iPhone came out last month (iPhone 4), I did the unthinkable. I stood in line and got one. Give me a little slack, ok? For reasons too boring to detail here, I had to do it in a timely manner, so standing in line was the best option.
I gave up my old one with its perfect (for me) hard white case and got a brand-spanking-new iPhone.
And, it's great! Really. It is.
And whether you like the iPhone or the Droid, the Blackberry or, well, whatever other phone might be out there, they are now, like it or not, fashion accessories.
Cases. Bumpers. Skins. We buy these phones in mass quantities an then geek them up in everything from Hello Kitty and Swarovski crystals to recycled tires and our favorite sports team logos. We spend small fortunes to outfit these already expensive items.
Which brings me to the, "now what?"
I can't find a cover for my iPhone. Yes, I know, start shedding tears. Get the worlds smallest violin. I get it. You just can't pity me on this one. And that's OK.
I don't mean that I can't PHYSICALLY find a cover for my phone. I mean, I can't find one I like (again, I'll cry you a river in a minute). And yes, I think it's ridiculous, too.
But, you gotta admit, the cover means a lot. If I'm all blinged out with crystals, I'll love it for a day or two, then I'll wake up in a couple of weeks and realize, well, my 14-year-old would like it. And that's just not right.
Too "sturdy" or "industrial" and, well, my feminine side would be sad.
Frankly, I'm a pretty simple girl. And all the ones I find online are just too, well, much, I guess. Too much pattern. Too artsy. Too. Much. Stuff.
I've looked at tech blogs. I've looked through dozens and dozens of websites. I'm searching for simple, elegant. No waves, no water droplets. No little pixel holes. Just gimme SOMETHING I can live with before I drop this thing and break it!
My old case for my old phone as mentioned before is perfect. Hard plastic (no sticking to the insides of my pockets). White. That's it.
Maybe that's the drawback I see from the new to the old. I might not miss my old phone, but I sure miss the case. Man, that's sad.
(note: Found any great cases? Tell me! I'm searching HIGH AND LOW, no kidding!)
