It’s Olympic time! And I couldn’t be happier.
The music, the pageantry, the games themselves. I’ve loved them from a young age.
But anyone can throw a javelin or run a marathon, right? Please.
Presenting the games that would be included in the Tri-State Olympics.
The 50-meter Crave Case Creep: The goal: to make it through the White Castle drive-thru at 2:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning -- just after closing time -- in less than a half hour.
Bandwagon or Bust: A contest where fans are judged on their ability and speed in jumping on and off the Reds’ and Bengals’ bandwagons based on wins, losses and injuries. Extra points for face paint, points deducted for outdated (though not vintage) jerseys.
The River is Wide: This game would boil down to one thing: crossing the bridge. Northern Kentuckians would get points for voluntarily shopping, eating or otherwise being in Cincinnati, and Cincinnatians would earn points for not making fun of the Northern Kentucky.
Where on the West Side? East Siders would be blindfolded and driven to the West Side. They have to find their way back to I-71 without the aid of GPS.
The Goetta Gulp: Downing a full pound of goetta – no ketchup, no syrup, no "reversal of fortune."
Name That Mascot: Of course, this would follow the most asked question in the Tri-State: “Where’d you go to school?" Extra points for knowing where the Big Train or the Pandas play.
Three-Way Throwdown: A lively debate over which is better: Gold Star or Skyline.
Please?: Participants are to have entire conversations using only Cincinnati colloquialisms.
The best part? We'd rule the medal count.
Have a great weekend!
From Today’s Show:
-Bengals Start Camp: For the first time the team’s history, the Bengals will stay in Cincinnati for training camp. Tonight, watch a Bengals-themed 5:30 p.m. show. Denny Janson and John Popovich will host the show from PBS and cover the team like only they can. Check our Bengals section for info about all things Bengals!
-Weekend Fun: In addition to the Bengals training camp, there’s tons more to do , including the Macy’s Music Festival. And if you’re looking for something to do tonight, join me in Forest Park for Concert on the Green on the campus on Union Central Life. The Cincinnati Pops will play and the Channel 9 Students of the Week will be honored.
